Welcome!

I am excited to be starting this new school year with you, and anticipate that collectively, we will emerge "better" from the experience. We will have plenty of time to define what "better" means for us individually and as a class as we tackle the essential questions for English 9.

Conferences:

In order for us to be proactive in ensuring that we are on target for reaching our class goals and your individual goals for English, I will be scheduling brief conferences throughout the school year. You will be able to sign up during class-time.**

Grading:

Homework/class assignments 20%
Major assignments (writing projects, tests) 35%
Minor assignments (quizzes, small writing responses) 25%
Class preparation/participation 20%

Essential Questions:

  • How can a person’s words, ideas, and actions change the world?
  • How can and can individuals change unfair laws or government?
  • When is rebellion morally justified?
  • How does rebellion contribute to the progression or regression of society?
  • What is the role of rebellion in society?
